Positiva Records are churning them out this year, and are set to
enter the summer season with one of 2003's most uplifting anthems. Only
the biggest club records bear the famous Positiva stamp and with massive
hits already this year from Room 5 featuring Oliver Cheatham and Bhangra
Knights Vs Husan, it's been one of their best so far. The label is now
looking at a summer of further success with Double Dee's Shining -
out on 21 July 2003 - a prime example of a real crossover dance record
that's ready to set light to the Top 40.
Double Dee are one of
Italy's most celebrated dance acts. Spearheaded by singer Danny Losito,
the band have enjoyed worldwide hits since the early 1990s. Their most
famous hit was the seminal Found Love - an archetypal Italian-house
classic that remains as one of the finest examples of the genre. Recent
years have seen Double Dee touring Europe and enjoying a number of hits on
the mainland. Shining should more than guarantee a repeat
performance in the UK.
The Original mix is a
veritable summer anthem in the making. Vocal house has made a consistent
comeback this year and Shining - with its sun-drenched, uplifting
vocals and throbbing synths - is the pick of the crop. The buzz around
this record has been huge, with many A-list club and radio DJ's clamouring
for a copy over the past few months. Already a Cool Cuts and Buzz Chart
No. 1, this uplifting slice of funky, epic house is now set for major
chart success.
Cicada have quickly made themselves 'ones to watch'
with their inimitable production style of layering original tracks with a
warm melodic feel that's all their own. The results are some of the most
beautiful remixes of recent times - and this is no exception. The driving
bass and gorgeous synth-lines combine with an awe-inspiring guitar hook in
an uplifting epic that sounds like The Cure meets U2. It's no wonder Pete
Tong has been playing this as his secret weapon on Radio 1 for months
since Miami.
The
Scumfrog - recently hailed as the "remix king" - demonstrates why he's
currently the finest remixer in the world. He turns in a grinding,
floor-shaking rerub that takes the original onto darker dancefloors and
injects it with sleazy New York funk for maximum peaktime appeal. If
you've heard this mix dropped in a live set you'll have seen the ensuing
mayhem it can cause - you have been warned!
